BIO Veronika Pot

Veronika Pot (born 1965, lives and works in Antwerp/Brasschaat) first and foremost shoots analogue, both with a 'regular' camera during her travels and with self-made pinhole cameras. Shooting with a pinhole camera goes through a small hole instead of a photo lens. It requires a very long exposure time and the result is not always very sharp. Thus, the time factor becomes an important author in shooting. The light is automatically assigned an idiosyncratic role as a result.

Veronika makes her prints herself during long sessions in her dark room, searching for the print that expresses what she is looking for. In the works 'Life in the Woods' she searched for Arcadia: for a world of perfect beauty and absolute happiness. She didn't have to look any further than her immediate surroundings for this. The photos she takes during her travels are also close to her. They arise as a writer writes to a diary: searching for the traces of daily existence and its meaning.
